HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

We had the WHOLE weekend to celebrate our 1st anniversary. We slept alot. We cuddled alot. We said "I Love You" alot. We ate bread and cake alot. We watched movies alot. We worked on our puzzle alot - and finished it. Diego bought me flowers with his added touch of orchids. I made some chocolate-covered strawberries. We had a barbecue with friends. We ate at a Brazilian Steakhouse and saw Speed Racer at the IMAX. All in addition to the "alot" of stuff we did. Our first weekend off in June we are going to Rocky Point, Mexico... and they there's Argentina, of course.

Bread and Cake ALL Weekend!

This weekend was our 1-year anniversary so we took our cake out of the freezer and it fared fairly well. It was yummy too! My cousin Nikki made if for us - just what we wanted, white cake with caramel filling!
I found this book called "Artisian Bread in 5 Minutes a Day" so I tried my hand at bread making. The 1st loaf turned our well so I attempted some of my own varieties with the remaining dough.
Here I am with the Rosemary, Cinnamon Sugar, and Kalamata Olive varieties. Rosemary was Diego's favorite and I like the Olive. The Cinnamon Sugar probably need a sweeter dough though. I will try that again later. Plus, the crust was TOO crusty for me. Diego loves it but I gotta find a happy medium. Any suggestions?
So with that, we pretty much ate bread and cake all weekend long. And it was goooood...

You might think we are lame, but I think we're pretty cool and that's all that matters!

Or should I post this with the title "Things Diego and I Do For Fun?" Diego has his own method of saving and it involves quarters. Yes, yes. As everyone, I thought it was odd too at the beginning but now that he has enough for a down payment on a car... Who's laughing now!? Anyway. That's beside the point. We went through *some* of his quarters one evening and put together our State Series Quarter Collection. We're only missing New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii and some of those haven't come out yet. Feel free to mail us the ones we are missing. Or, if you just have a roll of quarters lying about...
Also, we've starting doing puzzles. We don't have a table for many more pieces so I picked one that was a little more complex. It's actually more difficult that I thought to find puzzles that aren't too easy or too cheesy. We're hoping to find friends to like puzzles too so we can start a puzzle swap. That would be much better that buying a bunch of puzzles just to do them once.
See, you probably think we are lame. I thought we were watching too many movies so we've limited ourselves to 1 movie a week. Diego contested that we had to have "rollover movies" for when we aren't able to watch. And so, we've agreed. It's been fun finding other stuff to do together.

My dehydrating attempt

I might have been a good dehydrator but the dehydrator that I was given quit dehydrating some time during the night. So I am left with half-dehydrated bananas and non-dehydrated strawberry fruit leather. (I'm trying, dehydrator, to see how many time I can say dehydrate in this post.) Anyone got a dehydrator they want to donate to the cause? Those dehydrators are so expensive these days - especially dehydrators with drying screens...

Our Budding Food Storage

We're doing our best in our little space with our little budget to start our food storage and 72-hour kits. We procured this bookshelf and can now start purchasing extras when we got to the grocery store. We jacked up our bed and put the water underneath it that we were storing along this wall and behind this screen (to the left) in our dining room. It's not much - it's like the lesser law of food storage but at least it teaches us to be prepared! If anyone has suggestions, we are TOTALLY open!!!

Camping with Strangers

Although you won't believe it cause I never got any photos of them. What's wrong with me!? Anyhow, here we are at Chevelon Lake about to look for a cache we never found. Bummer. It was a fun trip.I found this Meetup group while I was looking for places to camp and discovered there is someone who will plan it for me! So we went camping with a group of strangers. We got along well and had a good time so that is all that matters.
